FAR CRY 5: STORY TRAILER
The story trailer of Far Cry 5 debuted yesterday and it seems to have garnered some mixed, mostly postitive response. On the one hand, it seems to deal with some serious issues affecting the US right now from fundamentalism to fascism, on the other, it still wants to be a “Amusingly unconventional” Far Cry game.
This trailer seems to get it right. The cult, Project at Eden's Gate, that’s taken over this Montana town seems legitimately terrifying, as does its leader, who is shaping up to be another iconic Far Cry villain. Eden's Gate feels like a cross between Scientologists, deep south Baptists and whoever invented The Purge. Building a resistance to take back a town from a cult that sick and pervasive is a fundamentally solid concept for a game in this series, and I like that Ubisoft is thinking outside the box. Whether the tone works in the game itself is another matter, as I’ve heard mixed things on that front.
