After its critical and commercial success ,grossing $ 773.3 million world wide and becoming highest- grossing superhero movie and third highest grossing movie of 2014, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOLUME 2 premiered on April 10,2017 in Tokyo and released in us on may 5th ,2017. It grossed more than $863 million world wide . In the highest grossing movies of 2017 its was at the 7th position. Many of us conjectured that when the "guardian of the galaxy volume 3" would be released James gunn ( Director) in his Q&A session with fans on Twitter , one of the fan tweeted " Is there going to be guardians of the galaxy 3? " To which James gunn quoted "coming in 2020"
